Obama's critics

For your perusal:::

I am a white American Protestant.
In regard to what America has done toward Negroes through the years since 1776, if I were black, I would hold an underlying animosity at the least and a seething hatred at the most for all of that terrible treatment.
In a country where many whites still hold an abiding disregard for African Americans, it is remarkable that Obama is able to set all this aside and use his intelligence and wherewithal to move into the highest area of prominence in the land and interact with anyone and everyone as though he was being treated like this is an equal playing field.
If Obama wins the presidency, this will indicate that enough of the voting public are able to set the hatred aside as he is doing. Even more devastating to contemplate, if he loses, there aren’t enough of the voting public who can do this in the year 2008 - 232 years after the US became a nation.

Note: Reverend Wright has spoken out about the anti-Negro attitudes, beliefs and policies. One must admit that there is justification for much of what he calls attention to.

As for Bill Ayers, he has been critical of US policies in Vietnam in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Lots of other well reputed folks have done the same.

It must be remembered that in a democracy such as ours, the citizens have the constitutional right and responsibility to critique government policies and practices.

McCain’s and Palin’s accusations make the US sound like a police state.

California weather in Texas

Yes...it's true...the temp goes down like it should every night...50's...and up to low 80's in the daytime. I'm no longer locked into my air conditioned house 24-7. I can actually work in the yard anytime of the day. The only thing I have to worry about are the fire ants -little one thirty second of an inch monsters that sting with a devastating toxin.
The other night we and some others on the block sat out in someone's driveway in our Disneyland like surroundings drinking our hot brew and admiring the full moon and listening to the cicadas. Very nice thing to do. Recommended.
Very good book: Lois on the Loose. British woman true life adventure of riding her dirt bike from Alaska down to tip of South America and up to Buenos Aires - 20,000 miles - 10 months.
Love to all, Marilyn

I'm Curiouser and Curiouser

Hello Whoever and Whatever....I just received this neat Carla Bruni cd all French songs. It was addressed to me so I know it was meant for me, but there is no from....? Other than this mystery of the day, life goes on in Texas. And the hurricane is going to pass us by except for a few 5 minute thunder, lightning, and rain storms.
Looks like Sarah Palin is further to the right than the spectrum goes.......oh McCain is such a politically motivated being....he should have urged his wife to run for president. I'd vote for her.
Let me know if you've ever read the true crime story during the Chicago World's Fair in 1893 called "The Devil in the White City". I'd like to know what other people think of it. It really is stranger than fiction.
I don't know anymore what life was like before air conditioning.
I miss the raw milk I could buy in Calif.
Here's what all the people say: "Have a Nice Day"!!!

Our Trip to California Aug 5 thru 10th 2008

I'm pretty new at this so only heaven knows if the stuff is gonna work...The trip was our (i.e. Jack and I) first one since we left about Nov. 16th 2007. A daytime flight from Austin over to San Diego and up the coast to Oakland so that we could see all the familiar landmarks. Very poignant stuff, you know. Even though it was from 35,000 feet up. It was like visiting a grand old dame of the realm - Lady California.
And the weather - ohhh - the weather. We came from highs of 100 to lows of 80 into highs of 79 to lows of 55. That's human again!!
The family - such a delight - Lynda, Larry, Mary, Nikolai, Luke, Brig, Caitlin, Kai- the dog, and then old friends in the area.....all so exhilirating. Friend Rose Davis' grandson Nick played his bagpipes and guitar for us - what a treat.
And I went back to my favorite donut shop where the donuts are the best in the world. And...I walked on the Iron Horse Trail again....this was just so wonderful....and my long time friend, Joe Herr, walked with me one of the days.
